White Cherry Blossoms Digital Watercolor Series

White Cherry Blossoms Digital Watercolor Series

A digital watercolor of beautiful white cherry blossoms. This piece is based on a photo I took of a lovely sakura tree at a park bursting with the flowers of Spring. I added a cracked, spotted concrete texture overlay to the image to juxtapose the ephemeral, delicate blossoms with the hard, worn-out surface of the buildings around the park. This is No. 1 of a 4-image series.

Prints are available on Fine Art America. You may also find them on Crated and Redbubble.

The three others in the series may be found on my print shop (second, third, fourth in the series).

I arranged the images in one of my 3D-rendered rooms. For this collection I chose a mauve couch and mint cream walls.

This is my first post for this site for 2015. It’s still hard for me to believe that we’re now in the “future” year of the Back to the Future movie. Compared to the film things don’t seem all that futuristic to me! I’m loving the smaller, lighter gadgets, and the focus on hydrogen-fueled cars and other environmentally-friendly products. But more than looking forward to a movie-like future I spend more time worrying if we aren’t destroying the Earth to the point where there will no longer be cherry blossoms in Spring. What a horrible world that would be.

In the meantime, do enjoy these cherry blossom images. We’re a really lucky generation to still get to see them each Spring. I’m not so sure how lucky the future generations will be.
