Pretty Butterfly with Orange Markings on Pink Flowers

A pretty butterfly with black wings and white and orange markings, on a bush with pink flowers and green leaves.

I took this photo at a park made up of a dormant volcano called Omuroyama. It’s found in Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Compared to the majestic Mt Fuji it’s quite tiny. And super cute. Visitors can hike around the crater in less than half an hour. There were bushes and grass all around the crater area, with butterflies and bees here and there. They had to fly all the way up to the mountain (well, hill) top, though, while we humans just used the lift 🙂
