View of Flagstaff Gardens one fall morning, seen from the William Street side.
We stayed at a hotel overlooking this beautiful park and it was a treat to look out the balcony in the morning and see the verdant greens with autumn leaves.
We learned that it was first established in 1862, and is the oldest park in Melbourne, and that tourists and office workers from surrounding buildings love the green lawns and archeological, horticultural, historical and social aspects of this urban oasis. Not a surprise–we walked across the park for a week and promptly fell in love with the lovely place. Office workers nearby are so lucky! 🙂 It look like a great place to have a nice, serene lunch under the trees.
Art prints are available on Redbubble. The one featured here has an “I Love You Flagstaff Gardens” lettering, hand-drawn style, with a heart for the “o” letter. If you’d like the photo without the lettering please let me know so I can offer a plain version for you.
